Transportation Company

A company that owns 40 heavy truck vehicles had decided to install the Commander system. By having the system installed, the company was primarily expecting to get the option of controlling the vehicle operation cost, and the option of increasing the safety thanks to the control of protective stops. Due to occurring the event in the past, when the truck's semi-trailer was ransacked because the driver fell asleep, the company had requested the simple watch of semi-trailer with the signalization to PCO.

The basic Commander unit was installed into every vehicle. The unit was expanded by the cargo load area monitoring sensor, crash sensor, emergency push-button, siren, and the module for actual fuel economy indication. Based on customer"s request, four user accounts were set for dispatchers and company managers, the detailed maps up to the street resolution, and Europe and Middle East survey maps (up to the city districts) were made accessible, and for each vehicle, the card with detailed identification data was created for cases of alarm activation.

The customer had not requested the area movement limitations activation for his vehicles. For moving around the Czech Republic territory, he had chosen the option to automatically determine the vehicle's location every minute, for traveling abroad, to save the cost, the communication "to order”, meaning the SMS based on a dispatcher"s request is sent to a Commander unit, and it returns the actual data.

From the time of activating the units within the system, all four authorized users had the chance of monitoring the vehicles’ operation. For the dispatchers, the data was valuable in showing the actual vehicles’ location, and in regular informing the customers about the state of shipment delivery and in more efficient utilization of vehicles planning; and drivers got "used” to the fact that whenever they prolonged their protective stops, the dispatcher immediately contacted them with a question as what is the reason for unplanned interruption of ride. After all, even they have invited the safety functions; when one of the vehicles became a car thieves’ prey when parked in the rest area, after breaking in through the lock, the Commander system had activated the siren and the thieves were discouraged from further actions, and the driver could see them quickly leaving the area. In this case, the PCO services were fortunately not needed and the warning was cancelled.

The company owner had appreciated the accuracy of recorded data at the time when the legal action was taken against his company by the owner of a luxury passenger car whose windshield was damaged by a flyaway rock from one of the company trucks. Based on the deposition of the “aggrieved” party and on the data from the given truck, it came out in the open that the truck was more than 100 km away from the spot during the incriminated time. The aggrieved party had withdrawn the accusation and the company owner’s insurance discount was retained.
