The Commander system consists of the following major components:
1. Mobile Unit
A Mobile Unit installed into the vehicle, or for example into the operating machine, collects by using the special sensors the information about monitored vehicle condition. The sensor varieties are very extensive; for an illustration, they include the: wheel level difference, motion, spatial, temperature, crash, circuit connection or disconnection, noise, and other sensors. If the vehicle is equipped with a CAN Bus, this Bus can be used as another source of information. The CAN Bus provides information about a technical state of the vehicle, e.g. the state and movement of fuel inside the tank, amortization of brake disc pads or shoes, necessity to change the motor oil, etc.
The other data from GPS (a determination of position with accuracy of up to 5 meters) can be added to this information, and it can be transferred through SMS or GPRS into the central server by using the communication module.
The unit supports bi-directional communication including the voice operation.
2. Application
A central server application collects data from the units, and displays it to users according to set parameters. The server itself is located at the telecommunications center and is accordingly equipped to meet the most sophisticated standards for the operation security. For example, these standards require an installation of automatic fire-protection system, or a back up of electrical power-units by using generators that enable the several-day operation in the case of power outage. Aside from backing up the data, the connection lines to telecommunication services providers are being backed up too.
Especially the secure data transfer between the server and user's computer is important; we use the same standards as banks do for their Internet banking applications to ensure the secure transfer.
The computer users can have their access rights modified to their specifications, and based on that they can receive the actual information about the location, state, and operation of their monitored vehicles. For the logistics purposes, the part of the application can also utilize the extensive data output, for example for the Book of Trips automatic creation. The format can be again modified accordingly to the customer"s requirements.
